The Seminole tribe has an extremely healthy relationship with the university and state of Florida. There are no legitimate reasons to keep the "Redskins" name. There's nothing within the term that does anything positive for the Native American community. Supporting it just because you're against being "woke" is so fricking stupid. That would he like supporting slavery because "it was accepted back then" and completely out of touch with how society evolves and operates. The Cleveland Indians logo was an offensive caricature implying that every NA had big teeth, wore a feather, and had tomato red skin. Also, it's idiotic because they're not from INDIA.

shut up, queer.

Naming a billion dollar enterprise with millions of adoring fans after a group is nothing but positive.

This is just stupid left wing white women and effeminate men creating a bigotry in their minds that doesn't exist.

The Cowboys are their biggest rival. As a former sportswriter who covered a few Redskins at Cowboys games I say games between the two made for great headlines. The games were fair fights and each team was treated fairly. There were massacres and there were scalpings..

What's interesting is that is not a Nike shirt, which is technically what Quinn could get in trouble for
I remember when the Cowboys got in trouble with the NFL for Barry Switzer wearing a Nike hat after Jerry made a side deal with Nike to be sponsor of Texas Stadium back before they had an NFL deal. No picture of Barry's Nike swosh cap comes up in a google search, but I did find some archive articles about the Coboys signing their deal before the NFL signed with Nike. The first one is the best because it has notes about other games that week.
quote:

Nike deal: The NFL, suing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over his deals with Nike and Pepsi, has signed its own five-year licensing deal with the Oregon shoe company, the New York Times reported Monday.

The newspaper said the league’s deal, which comes a month after Jones signed Nike as a Texas Stadium sponsor, is worth an estimated $200 million. Jones, the subject of the NFL’s $300 million federal suit, has an estimated $17.5 million deal with Nike over seven years.

quote:

Numbers: Emmitt Smith scored two touchdowns, tying him with Tony Dorsett for the Cowboys’ team record of 86. Smith has 82 rushing touchdowns, ranking him No. 8 in NFL history.

quote:

Reggie White increased his NFL-record career sack total to 150 with a third-quarter trap of Troy Aikman. White has 5 1/2 sacks in five games this season.
quote:

Marv Levy recorded his 100th victory as Bills coach. He’s 100-55 in his 10 years in Buffalo and 130-97 in 15 years as an NFL coach.
quote:

Long distance: Barry Sanders’ 75-yard touchdown dash tied for the third longest run from scrimmage against Cleveland.
quote:

Injuries: Jets QB Boomer Esiason (concussion); Dolphins QB Dan Marino (right knee, left hip contusion); Bills WR Andre Reed (pulled left hamstring); Browns WR Andre Rison (knee); Oilers QB Chris Chandler (right shoulder); Jaguars S Darren Carrington (strained groin); Jaguars LB Reggie Clark (sprained knee); Steelers LB Chad Brown (heat exhaustion); Vikings G Randall McDaniel (hamstring); Browns S Bennie Thompson (left elbow); Cardinals WR Rob Moore (ankle); Raiders DE Anthony Smith (pulled right hamstring).

Nike deal: The NFL, suing Dallas Cowboys… (Chicago Tribune)

New York Times archive

A pic of Switzer's Nike cap would have been great because it was a tall hat that made him look like Elmer Fudd.

Would've been funny if they had rebranded as "Commanders Chew" unoriginal blend.

These are the times to not remember.

George Preston Marshall had an American Indian pick the name Redskins, you idiot. Also, poll after poll of American Indians showed they supported the Redskins moniker by overwhelming majorities.

But, a bunch of liberal arts major white liberals were bound and determined to save those poor benighted savages; so, the logo had to go. Boy, those poor Indians are really lucky that the Great White (Liberal) Father is looking out for their best interests.

Will you only rest when they have erased any and all mention of native tribes and/or North American Indians? Isn’t that what white people want? To complete erase any mention of Indians or Native American people?

Any time this comes up I feel compelled to remind everyone that what finally pushed Snyder to change the name was when FedEx threatened to remove its sponsorship from the stadium.

The name changed.

FedEx pulled out of the sponsorship anyway a few months ago.
NGL that kinda seems like Snyder getting a taste of his own medicine (I realize he already sold the team)
