45% of the NBA MVPs over the last 20 years, weren't born in USA. Last one? 2018.

Turns out fundamentals matter over streetball.

And with the inevitable rise of GOATbanyama, this may not change anytime soon.

Someone said this the other day, American youth are always playing games and rarely practicing....like team practice. Everything is geared towards 1-on-1.

Geno Auriemma has a good quote of the phenomena. He basically says they have great individual skills but they're not good basketball players.

European will have team practice 6 days a week and play 1 game.

Americans will play 6 games a week and practice only once.

Well when it is practically a prerequisite that someone be in the top 1% in height AND be in the top 1% of athleticism just to play at that level then you might as well cast your net in a river that has 6 million fish as opposed to a river that has only 330 million.

Not saying fundamentals don't matter but freaks of nature don't grow on trees.

Great players have the basketball IQ to go with the rest of the game. But the face-up big man has really changed the game. That is the European game through and through. The inside-out offenses that featured big men backing their guy down in the post have pretty much gone with the wind. And the rules and expanded paint make it all such an advantage.

Most offenses start their motion on the other side of the 3-point line. Spread basketball is as prominent as spread football. More European concepts.
