I honestly don't think I've ever seen/heard someone playing music at my home course, but it's pretty common most places. I think the thing that the OP isn't getting is that most people aren't "blasting" the music.

If you want to play music, play it loud enough where just you are hearing it. You're not playing music for other people to listen to. If someone else can hear it, it's too loud. But If you're mad at someone for playing music that you cannot even hear, you might as well be mad as someone that is listening to them through headphones because it's not effecting you in any way.
