Being a catcher looks absolutely brutal, but I've never seen a catcher's throat get sliced open in the middle of a game.

For 120+ yrs, dudes with literal metal spikes on their feet tried to slide into and bull over catcher's as they turned almost helplessly into or stood in front of a full speed prime athlete running at them full speed.

I get that skates are blades, but being an MLB catcher is no day at the beach.
