Sunflower seeds or dip. How hard is it to figure that out?

Apparently plenty hard if I had to ask the question. Good to know. Makes perfect sense though. Thanks

Didn't MLB ban dipping several years ago?

That's one of the great things about baseball. Kind of like golf, you can eat seeds or other snacks from your pocket while on the field of play in between plays.

I remember a cell phone falling out of the back pocket of a Pirates player a couple of years ago as he was sliding into third base.

Not many professional sports like that.

Combination of reasons probably. They could have something in their mouth like dip, seeds or gum. Or they might have dust in their mouth from playing in or near dirt. Or, they might just be telling the opponent what he thinks of them.

Major League Baseball's 2016 collective bargaining agreement banned the use of smokeless tobacco, including chewing tobacco, for all new big league players. However, it did not apply to any player who already had at least one day of major league service at that time.

And?

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that banning an activity is effective.
