I've never thought of it this way, but it's California's (or at least Los Angeles) twin cousin in the way it selects for people with awful qualities.

D.C. is a magnet that draws people seeking power. people like david brock. i am sure clarence thomas has had dealings with him. i remember trump saying that he had never spent the night in washington until he bacame president.
