May 11, 1945 - Germany Surrenders!

It is 298 weeks since Germany invaded Poland. Here is what was going on 79 years ago during the week of 5-11 May 1945:

Germany signs not one, but two unconditional surrenders and the war in Europe is officially over... although that does not mean that all the fighting in Europe is, for there is fighting and surrenders all over Europe this week. The Japanese launch a counteroffensive on Okinawa; the Chinese launch one in Western Hunan; the Australians advance on Borneo and New Guinea; and the fight continues on Luzon in the Philippines, so there is still an awful lot of the world war to come, even with the end of the war in Europe.

A victory for trans rights, drag queen story time, and official discrimination against whites. Thank god the good guys won!

The good ole days
Must’ve felt like the apocalypse right around 1943 or so.
Death and war everywhere but N and S America and even there sons and fathers were dying elsewhere in the thousands every month.

I can’t believe we’re finally here.
When did you guys start watching? I started October of ‘39 and backtracked to the beginning.
Did you know episode 1 was only 11 1/2 minutes compared to his recent episodes?

I watched schindlers list and the pianist for the first time this week. Talk about depressing. During both, I just kept asking myself how can anyone live with themselves after torturing and killing that many people

I was glad to see they released this episode early this morning. The last couple of weeks it was later on in the day before they dropped. I wake up Saturday’s and like to watch nerdy YouTube videos before my wife and daughter get up. They call it my “Saturday Morning Cartoons”.

That's what they get for bombing Pearl Harbor
