As summer approaches, I'm still catching myself that we've lost the man & his 6-string. Been a fan for so long, but it dawns on me that I've not heard of any video documentary of Jimmy, the Coral Reefer Band or their escapades on tour.

Best kept secrets? What happened on tour stays on tour sort of thing?

I missed the recent memorial concert in his honor. Great to see it had such an esteemed list of attendees & participants, but that got me thinking if there's some project in the works. Certainly seems like it could be amazing, if done properly.

Somewhat related

Amber Heard’s morning routine:
1. Wake up
2. Eat Breakfast
3. Take a Dump
4. Get out of Bed

I have 'A pirate looks at 50'. It starts off, as I recall, making reference to earlier books I've not read, so l put it down and haven't tried it again.

But even with all those books, no video documentary? Seems there's more than ample footage and material out there.

The problem with Jimmy Buffet was that his songs which were actually good (like spider John) were not the popular ones

Saw him for the first time when I was 9 years old. Jimmy played a 1-armed heckler in the movie “Cobb” played by Tommy Lee Jones. I was an extra in the film.

Buffett has like one line, but after filming wrapped for the day, Jimmy Buffett played a concert for everyone. I remember asking, what is that weird smell all over….it was the first time in my life I’d ever smelled pot

my dad was an Altar boy with Jimmy growing up, and is friends with Lulu.

sucks we lost him - growing up on the coast, and for a time living on a sailboat, Jimmy Buffet was a huge musical influence growing up.

his music reminds me of better times with my dad, and growing up.

There was a weird fallow period in between his recording success and his parrot head touring when he lived in Nashville and owned a small bar/restaurant. Most nights he hung out at the bar and talked with patrons. Kind of crazy that you could just go to a local watering hole and have drinks with Jimmy Buffet on a random Tuesday night. But it was the MTV generation and most people didn't care about the washed up beach bum melody maker at the end of the bar.

Heard his tunes in the late 70's, early 80's often and it immediately just clicked with me. No explanation needed, I just liked it.

Then I won a bet on the '82 Iron Bowl (winner gets an album of their choice) and that's when I got 'You had to be there'. In part recorded live at the FOX theatre in ATL.

It remains a cherished treasure of my record collection.

I’m still catching myself that you’ve lost the ability to communicate coherently and your words.

For the last thirty years, Jimmy Buffett had more in common with Warren Buffett than some pirate troubadour myth he sold.

Pass on caring to watch a documentary on negotiating contracts with authorized Parrothead vendors….

The memorial concert at the Hollywood Bowl is on YouTube. It’s a great show. I still can’t believe he’s gone. It’s prob the only celebrity death I’ve ever experienced that’s actually hurt. Hit me in the heart real real bad. I miss him.

ETA: we’re seeing Kenny Chesney tonight. Hopefully he’ll sing something in Jimmy’s honor

Not yet.

I was at the JazzFest Coral Reefer Band tribute show.

Great and bittersweet at the same time.

I hope there is a documentary.

Fun fact: he and Hunter s Thompson lived together for a year in the keys after Thompson’s first divorce. Very little has come out about their escapades together, but I can imagine it was a helluva time.

And Jerry Jeff Walker was the one who drove him to Key West.
