I have family in Vestavia - that is the area I wouldn't leave my doors open - too much nice shite to entice folks to break in for lol.

glad you and yours was safe, and she got the help she needed and you didn't press charges. at the end of the day, that is the important stuff.

Feels like this is a policy you should’ve enacted a long time ago.

I could live in the Sanctuary in Mandeville or a similar 'hood in Texas and I'd still lock my doors at night

we locked our doors at night when we lived a quarter mile off a dirt road on acreage

Happened to me, but I got a guy who walked into my house around 4 am and crashed on my couch.

I heard someone open the door and looked out the door of my room and saw a random dude walking in. I had no idea what to do, so I just said, "hey... man" and played it cool and shut my door. Then I peaked back out and he was asleep on my sofa.

I went outside and saw he parked in between my house and my neighbors and figured he had the wrong house, so I went to them and asked if he was their friend and they said yes. So they came and got him. When they woke him up off my couch and explained it to him he kept saying, "I could have been shot." He was super drunk. His truck door was open with pee on the concrete and his phone in the console.

Why was your door unlocked?

If everybody followed the rules, we wouldn't have to lock our doors. Never did at the camp when I was a kid and it was hotter than heck in the summer.

But if you have to lock your doors, it indicates a lawless society and there are good reasons then to have firearms and such. I live in a very quiet area but I sure lock up every night. Help could be far away.

Question is, what kind of videos are you "watching" at 4am?

My neighbor was having problems with his young adult daughter.. drugs ..etc.. got up to go to work one morning and noticed her passed out naked in his (she lived at home) front yard.. went and knocked on his door to let him know where she was..
Guessing she was out partying and did not make it inside.. they moved shortly after that..

We would find the elderly lady across the street wandering all the time …blocks away.. she had Alzheimer’s.. we would just take her home ..finally had to go to a home when she chased her husband out of the house with a butcher knife.. she thought he was a stranger in her house..

Alzheimer’s is no joke. 1st thing we did when my dad started developing Dementia was we sold his gun, and put a child lock on the silverware drawer.

When I was an LSU student living in an apartment in Tigerland I woke up one morning to find a biker passed out on the floor of my living room. We just went about our day until his friends could come retrieve him.

Bad people target “good areas”. That’s usually where all the “good” stuff is…….and “good people” who leave their doors unlocked at night.
