I'd look for that to be a feint. Not sure how they'd hide enough troops to do a major attack but I guess we're about to see.

From a tactical standpoint Russia would have to expend millions of tanks to take Ukraine at the current rates. I used to think they would eventually muscle their way through but I am not sure they can. Even if they did what would be left?
People were surprised, expecting Russia to roll through Ukraine like we did Iraq. That was never going to happen.

Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union, and inherited a lot of the same gear the Russians are using. So a lot of this is like vs like. Add to that the Ukrainians don't want to go back under Moscow in a big way, and the Russians didn't intend on burning it to the ground, and you get what we see- war by attrition. And Russia is winning that attrition, they have the numbers to grind this out if they want to; and they seemingly want to.

Sure if this was just a math problem in a vacuum. But the truth is this war just needs to stay in place bc Russia is attritting Ukraine of men and the West of military resources and political will. The Ukrainian defenses are buckling badly and when the wall comes down not much will be behind it so thats where your hypothesis dissolves, that in the fact that Russia doesnt want the western 2/3 but maybe Odessa.

Even if it does dissolve much damage has been done. I have stated before that fhe MIC isn't dumb. Russia has expanded the majority of its pre war stockpile against much of our old stock. People think a 60 billion aid bill is just piles of cash going to zelensky. Most of it goes back to the MIC to update our stocks. Furthermore, it's a live demonstration of our equipment and countries like Poland are putting in very large orders.

Nope just greedy for their stock holders and budgets.

They were using old stock too and their weapons are far, far less cheaper than ours.

They are updating their stocks much faster than ours and have been proven to be far more effective in this type of war.

Will still be a very very bad net loss for the tax payers. That money should have been spent inside our country and benefitted the tax payer.

You must have not been paying attention. Those turtle tanks have been highly successful and are cheap. The Abrams however have been running to the back of the line to hide again, Ooof.

They are good until the artillery shells get there. It is a mere phase in the adaption of war. Let me know when these get produce in full scale and are the backbone but until then oof all you want

Like the boeing glide bombs that are junk, or the missiles that Russia is hacking the guidance systems on with 94% effectiveness?

And this is not "old stock" its newly developed weapons.

MIC puts out junk so they can replace it with more junk.

This. Its similar to when the US was "stuck in the hedgerows" for two months, when they did break out Patton was burning 300K gallons of fuel a day storming across Europe.

Ukraine had built up months of defenses that Russia recently broke through. Now Russia is moving every day. Ukraine has few seasoned soldiers left nor weapons/artillery.

They have blown through 200 billion and lost 1000s of square miles, yet 37 billion (the rest is going to run the govt and pensions) is gonna change their lives??????

The point is to drag their slaughtered body across the finish line/election day then they will be discarded like Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Solmalia, Niger....well you get the point. .

They have been highly affective and will be used until they are not just like every other evolution in military history, so thats a rather useless point to try and make. When the Russians started adding coke cages to all their tanks they were first laughed at, then copied by not only the Ukrainians but Israelis. Just a lot of stupid propaganda from the west, just like pretending they were fighting an army of shovels. In the end you just look silly when you talk out of your arse.

$61 billion down the drain to Ukraine as Putin gains substantial new ground on Northern front.

They have withstood all the modern weaponry, training, and intel the entire western world could throw at them and they are still moving forward.

Unlike the US who ran scared from a couple untrained fellas with rusty AKs in Afghanistan.
