I support Trump for 2024 yet I have to wonder how many more people would support his message if it were being delivered by someone who sounded like Barack Obama instead of via angry tweets. I legitimately think that candidate might lock up a 60% vote total.

Exactly. This election would be a layup if not for Trump's propensity to chase only those that think and communicate at a 6th grade level.

That's like 80% of the country now. Thanks, public education.

No you wouldnt. In your exact words, your attraction to trump was his stimulus.

And there it is folks. Roger thinks “allowing” people to keep their money in their family after a death is money the government “gave” us.

It is a fundamental difference between him and I. He thinks all assets belong to the government and they “allow” us to keep some as a “gift”. I feel the exact opposite

We always get to the point Roger. Every time. I get you riled up enough and you show your true colors. Every time.

That doesn't prove he backed it. It proves he wasn't going to try and steer America off a cliff by not providing financial support to citizens Democrats were hellbent on keeping home.

Yet you expect others to do so when you attempt to derail a topic.

You're a clown.

*And I don't agree with a lot of what Rog says either. He's completely wrong on trade but as usual this thread went off topic on the first page due to those whose only argument appears to be "You like to diddle kids!".

The 5% here that can actually have a meaningful discussion is drowned out by the Cult45 morons as usual.

States filed for emergency status which freed up the money train.

The federal govt provided incentive for local govts to shut down, for workers to stop working and for businesses to close their doors.

All of that came through Covid relief bills. The Stafford Act declarations were unprecedented.
quote:

The President’s emergency declaration, pursuant to Stafford Act Section 501(b), 42 U.S.C. §5191(b),
authorized assistance for COVID-19 response efforts for all U.S. states, territories, and the District of
Columbia. This is the first time the President has unilaterally declared a nationwide Stafford Act
emergency;

quote:

... any occasion or instance for which,
in the determination of the President,
Federal assistance is needed to
supplement State and local efforts and
capabilities to save lives and to protect
... public health and safety, or to lessen
or avert the threat of a catastrophe in
any part of the United States” (42
U.S.C. §5122(1)).

quote:

Disaster Relief Fund (DRF)—“Base
Disaster Relief” and supplemental
appropriations.

When you incentivize bullshite, you get a lot of bullshite.

What happens when you cut taxes, send out money to stimulate the economy and increase spending?

Agreed. That’s not what he is taking about when he addressed me, though. You know I didn’t get a stimulus check.

He thinks doubling the estate tax is also stimulus. I get why you didn’t get that. It’s crazy talk for a supposed principled conservative.

The stimis were barely 14% of the total spending in the CARES Act. It was a state government and corporate payoff in exchange for cosplaying World War Z

Correct. I've just seen a lot of folks conflating the stimulus checks with "Americans keeping their money," and we both know that's bullshite. It was wealth redistribution, and it should be criticized and opposed.

A lot went to states and municipalities so they could close down.

You should have seen the unemployment fraud.

Not to mention the PPP fiasco.

Nigerians did very well in 2020.

The amount of fraud for the ERC was insane and last year we were dishing out $10s of billions a month until October and it go up to as much as $30B. Mr. Wonderful had a consulting call center to help people qualify.

Are you confusing money for increased medical pressure and money to pay people to stay home?
