The rule is designed to prevent anyone from being inside the foul line

The rule is designed to prevent interference, which wasn’t the case on that play. You can link some shitty Google AI breakdown all you want but any good ump isn’t calling interference unless the runner is actually obstructing or attempting to obstruct the throwing lane

ETA: this is how the rule is actually written in the NCAA rulebook.

NCAA 2-51 Interference

Interference SECTION 51.

The act of an offensive player, umpire or nongame person who interferes with; physically or verbally hinders; confuses; or impedes any fielder attempting to make a play

Nowhere does it say that you can’t run inside the line. Congrats on your first foray with Google AI answers giving you completely bad info and you falling for it with no further research

Bro that ain’t the rule being interpreted.

Like Omaha is the prime education on this rule. They even have a website for it.

You are the person who is fooled. The rule clearly states you can not run on the left side of the foul line. Thanks for proving you know nothing about baseball. With that being stated, what a piss poor effort by this team. That is little league errors and shouldn’t be part of major college baseball. This team doesn’t deserve to win crap. Here’s to hoping for next year.

Why are you so sure that it didn’t effect him fielding and throwing? Was there a bad throw? Did he hesitate when throwing? Think it all the way out. How can you be so sure that him illegally running outside of the batter-runner lane did not effect him throwing the ball?
