Everything you’d want in an Apes movie.

Probably my second favorite after Dawn. But it’s real hard to tell. The apes in this look so good and believable and menacing and adorable at the same time that I wonder if that just makes it a better movie?

All the apes are very likable. When the one buddy said he was scared, that got me in the feels.

I don’t think the human element of this really works. The main actress is hot but I think she struggled filming this pretty obviously. I mean, she’s too young and pretty for this role too. Hard to believe her storyline

Also, the other human character. Not sure if it’s a spoiler. He was also pretty bad in this.

Everything ape related though is great. There are some pacing issues but the movie also is pretty fast paced so not a huge issue.

Really curious where the story goes from here

One idea could be that astronauts crash on a strange planet in the future. The crew stumbles upon a society in which apes have evolved into creatures with human-like intelligence and speech. The apes have assumed the role of the dominant species and humans are mute creatures wearing animal skins. Throw in a huge twist at the end though… having a hard time coming up with an idea for that.

I assume you’re trolling? That obviously isn’t going to be in this trilogy I think. It’s still set way too far in the future and they’re setting up for this current Noa storyline

stopped reading here in case of spoilers since I’m seeing it this weekend, but that makes me feel better about it meeting my expectations. Dawn was my favorite too

It really irritates me that they misnamed “Dawn” and “Rise”. That’s a problem I constantly have to rethink thanks to the misnaming of those films.

I think they made a point for this one to actually incorporate “kingdom” into the actual storyline of the movie. Kingdom is probably said at least 5 times

I get them confused but if Dawn is Keri Russell and Jason Clarke, I agree.

Heartbreakingly good film.

She comes across as way too young for the character she is supposed to be portraying. Like she’s supposed to be a hardened badass and instead she’s just bla

I think this sets it up for nuclear war.

As I suspected, some humans were resistant to the mutation as they should have been. They still have access to technology. Her firing up the satellites means they want to fight back.

I see it eventually turning into the use of nukes, which will wipe out most remnants of human civilization such as Eiffel tower, roads, etc.

And will make apes really hate humans forever.

I liked it. The CGI was really good. The apes looked real even when talking. I didn't think the main actress was bad.
I like the different ways that apes followed Caesar. .

i enjoyed it a lot as well, i went in expecting nothing and it was very refreshing to see something new.

to me, it seemed humans weren't part of this story, they were there, but this was more a coming of age of the new leaders and how apes were coping with life in the new world.

i like that they made it, the apes story

no need to have humans trying to be part of the story when its not needed. i also like the way it ended with 2 avenues they can use to do something with humans by the story of those scientists still hiding underground labs, or the ones like echo that are smart and educated working free on the outside trying to survive the ape world. there are lots of story lines that can sprout from that starting point of reference

Ouch. That doesn't speak too well for its longevity.

I thought the movie was well done. Established Noa as the new Caesar and left us knowing the humans still have more than a puncher’s chance.

I wished we could have gotten 20-30 more minutes of badass/evil Proximus but I really enjoyed the setup with Raka explaining how things came to be to Noa. This was a great reset of the Apes universe.

Space.
space is cool no matter if you’re a damn dirty ape or a human.

I thought Raka and Noa needed more time together to learn about ceaser. Noa acts like an expert now on someone he had no idea existed before interacting with Raka for a day or so.
All this movie did was introduce characters. It was rather slow. I still enjoyed it, but it’s a bit irritating I need to wait 2 years to see where this is going.

to them it was as magical as seeing a flashlight for the first time

they even said it was capturing the light from the sky to shine it in your eye
