That wasn't an easy out for the catcher.
Which is why he shouldn’t have called Herring off as quick as he did. Easy play for the pitcher, Milazzo made it more complicated than it needed to be, and then threw it away.

Milazzo never lets a ball get by him. don’t must have been a wild pitch. And Jones should have caught the ball because Milazzo is catcher GOAT

I don’t think Milazzo is much better than anyone else, but that was a really bad pitch from Herring to pin on Alex.

He should take a knee, on second thought, maybe not.

No Jay lost this game. Shoulda brought Herring in to start the eighth. Got greedy with a 4 run lead and tried to save Herring.

You would have to be omniscient to know that Herring would have a total s*it 9th and know to bring in Little to save the game. Way too much bad baseball for LSU to overcome while gifting a W to Bama.

Milazzo isn’t Yadier Molina. But half this board thinks he is.

He’s a good ballplayer. Usually pretty solid behind the plate, not much with the bat

The truth is this team has 3 guys who can play catcher and it doesn’t really matter which one you put back there

Yeah he called him off to early. I understand the ball getting further away than he anticipated, and even Herring falling off the opposite way and being LH, but you can’t rush that throw. Plain and simple. It had to be on target or else you just eat it. A bad throw is ballgame and that’s exactly what happened.

So many missed chances, what can you say, except that's baseball and we blew it as a team. Such a painful loss ugh.

Milazzo only?

What about White missing 3rd base?

What about pitchers giving up 3 runs in the 8th after having a 7-3 lead?

And on, and on.

This is what changed everything, and gave bama life, while everyone got tight for us. I was really surprised he brought Little back in the 8th, as I thought he looked very shaky the previous inning. I guess gambling saving herring, which in retrospect.....what a shite show in the 9th.

This was not just on Milazzo… Tommy did not touch third base, outfield can’t catch balls, Pitcher walked 2 and hit a third batter with 2 outs to load the bases.

No you don’t groove a pitch on an 0-2 count to a good hitter. That’s on pitching. Talk about letting them back in the game.

There were 2 outs and nobody on when this all started. How about not walking two in a row after that. That’s where the game was lost.

Jones should have made the play at 1st... should have moved to his left to catch the ball thrown by Milazzo! He sat and failed to go get the throw! He's been a defensive liability all season..
