Russia has had liberals since Peter the Great, and they've usually been a source of trouble. They have bad ideas, and functionally they're often just self hating Russians, who build an identity around being as Western as possible to (in their mind) make themselves superior to their fellow countrymen. It's an insecurity thing. They're a direct analog to the American liberals who use to declare that everything European was superior.

With that said, I found that with women you'd have this facade of Liberalism over what was a very traditional and health set of values. The Russians are a charming people. I also love how feminine the women still are there.
