My thoughts exactly. A real woodsman or outdoorsman can identify snakes. And deal with them. They will avoid biting you if at all possible. Though water moccasins can be pretty aggressive and territorial. Ticks are more of a real problem than snakes. Some people just hate to be reminded that wildlife and nature doesn’t mean park and petting zoos and terrariums.
