Picked up a 2 Srixon ZX UDI. Love the way it feels. My issue is spin. I spin it in between 4500-6500. My 5 iron sits around 5000 and my 6 iron is around 6000. My 5 wood is around is around 4000. I swing it around 101mph. The spin is really killing distance on this club and I just can’t seem to figure it out. It has a 95gr stiff steel fiber shaft on it. Is it worth going to a fitter and trying different shafts on a UDI to see? Could a shaft affect spin that much? I looked it up and it is a mid launch mid spin shaft.

A lot of Pro's use the Graphite Design 80X in their driving irons.

Try lead tape. Put it along the top of the club along the ‘crown’ line ‘behind’ highest part of the face. You can then add a smaller strip along the top seam of that. Go check Scottie schefflers Srixon driving irons out. Follow a similar placement with lead tape.

I have a Srixon zx5 4 iron and did the same. Helped jump spin up and dropped carry to eliminate some fliers.

Are you fluctuating that much in spin consistently? Or keeping it more on one side of that range?

Playing a prov1x.

As far as the spin fluctuation, on my normal swing it’s around 5500 may sink into the upper 4000s. I’ve tried playing it more back it my stance, more forward, tried to come in steeper, tried to come in more shallow… and the spin numbers pretty much stay in that 4500-6500 range depending on what I do. I feel like I’m really making great contact. I checked to be sure I wasn’t hitting behind the ball a little as well.

I had the same issue. I switched to ProV1. Didn’t notice much difference on driver except slightly lower height. My irons are much more consistent with ProV1 vs ProV1x.

I’ll try a prov1 and see what happens.

Yes. Takes the headache out of figuring it out yourself, unless you want to dive down that rabbit hole.

Absolutely. Might need an X stiff.

Yea. I’ll just go that route. Can’t think of anything else to try. Really the only club I’m having this issue with.

Getting the same results on the course. Only club I’m having an issue with. It’s also my first driving iron so I tried everything I could think of so far and nothing has worked.
