Modern Islamic terrorism started in the 60s. It was largely orchestrated by marxist organizations. Oddly enough one of the first suicide terrorist campaigns was organized by a Japanese communist group on the airport in Israel, taking their culture’s glorious death attitudes (e.g. Kamakazis in WW2) and implementing them on a new front.
Terrorist attacks such as bombings of civilian areas and infrastructure by separatists groups intended to kill civilians and cause fear were largely started by the Zionists in the 1930s and 1940s. Some of the early Palestinian terrorists even quoted such acts as inspiration (it led to the Zionists achieving power before they had any).
What are the acts from the 11th century you’re talking about? Are they relevant to this discussion?
