Has anyone driven I40 from Amarillo into California? In the past three months and if so is it as bad as some are reporting? Thanks

OK OK OK maybe a little clearer maybe. Planning a trip pulling a camper westward from Amarillo on I 40 and was hoping someone on Droppings has done this in the recent past. I have found all kind of comments on the RV sites and still a little mystified.
came back on I40 eastbound last year and it was so rough in a couple of places no let me unbelievably rough that damage to the axles of your Travel Trailer is not far fetched.

There it is simple.....

In what way? Driven it to ABQ recently and it was fine. Not sure about further west than that.

I40 in Arizona was rough two years ago. Mostly in the higher elevations though.

Drove it in 2022 from Amarillo to the highway where you turn off to go to Vegas. Condition of the road was shite. Still an enjoyable drive.

ETA: Not on all of it, but on a lot of it. It was bad enough that I remember thinking to myself that an interstate highway isn’t supposed to be like this. The US highway I was on in TX getting to Amarillo was way better.

Just road surface condition...I came back thru ABQ eastward to Amarillo last year and the interstate was pretty bad 90 miles east of ALB for a long distance. Kind of where the signs of how great the NM state government has been spending taxpayer money.

Been on 40 between Gallup and Bakersfield this year. Don’t recall any issues.

The RV folks on the forums continue to complain about how rough I-40 is in New Mexico

Just drove 40 today in a uHaul. From Amarillo to ABQ. The road is great in Texas, then turns to shite at the border. The right lane is considerably worse than the left in a lot of spots.

No major potholes, just a bunch of terrible patching.
