When your BMR is 1200, and you don't move or work out, you should probably eat 1200 calories

Hormones and processed foods aside (a whole other level of discussion), people need to be realistic and mindful about what they eat.

Most people, women especially, have this ingrained excuse built into their heads about “needing energy.”

You don't need to eat that way if you aren't really using energy, like old-school women working in the fields.

It's not hard, ultimately, to slim down. The easiest solution is to train your body to eat once daily as a lifestyle. This minimizes opportunities to overeat throughout the day, and after a month or two, most realize they are free from hunger.

TLDR: overeating is WAY more commonplace and is the result of addiction and a lack of responsibility. Flame away.

I drink, not as often as I used to (I take Mondays off for the family), but I only eat once a day. Have been for over a decade. My stomach shrank as a result, and I get full on a 1500-calorie meal once a day. I'm never hungry until the evenings.

I get between 1800 and 2200 cals a day just depending. Its all protein and fats. Had some clown at the gym this week ask me what my diet was like and when I told him I pretty much do straight carnivore he asked me where I get my 'energy' and 'recovery' from since I don't eat carbs? I told him fats. He looked at me with a blank face and said you can't 'grow' without carbs!!!! Keep in mind this guy didn't have a single muscle in his body. He wasn't fat or obese he just had no muscle definition what so ever and then I knew why after speaking to him. People are dumb.

Its amazing how fast the snacks add up. Quest bar, peanut butter, almonds, avocado… all 200-250 cal a pop.

I think a large part of the population would maintain or lose weight at a strict 2000 calories. I think people that say they eat 2000 calories a day without carefully tracking/weighing are probably closer to 3000.

I keep telling my wife that but she thinks we have the same caloric needs.

I bust my arse so that I can eat 2500-3000 calories a day and not be fat.

Get to 20+ miles a week running and you can just about eat whatever you want.

People burn on average 100 calories per mile. 2000 calories divided by 7 days is 285 calories.

Running gets you the ability to eat a healthy diet at maintenance calories plus a daily slice of pizza. It’s an inefficient strategy for weight management.

^^^ this right here, be selective in what you drink. A homemade texas ranch water will be 65 calories whereas a Modelo is 164 calories for the same amount of alcohol.

This picture is a perfect example of why America is fat. Highly refined sugar and engine oil in a convenient package.

Why is the ingredient list not just peanuts and salt?

Peanut butter and similar items are no joke.

You see all these YouTubers struggling with a 10,000 calorie challenge. Give me 5 of these little frickers and I’ll knock it out before lunch.

How accurate are BMR calcs?

Harris-Benedict Calc

BMR = 66.47 + (6.24 x BW in lbs) + (12.7 x Height in inches) - (6.755 x Age)

If you use a calc that includes body fat %, and you’re more fit, your BMR is higher.

Straight calc has me around 1,850. If you add in body fat % to the calculation, I’m over 2,000.

The 2,000 cal diet (for men) was probably accurate 50 years ago when people were healthier; today, not so much.
