For what purpose does marriage serve them?

Couldn't most of the issues that are brought up be resolved with a simple legal contract? Such as hospital visitors rights, health insurance, etc?

If a particular community does not see gay marriage as a net benefit to the community, why should that community be violently forced to recognize gay marriage?

How can you support gay marriage and not also support everything with the trans movement, like gender affirmation? What is the difference?

Honest question: Why is the government involved in marriage at all?

Because homosexuality is actually a thing and swapping you gender isn’t.

I supported gay marriage for one reason alone - gays pay taxes and should be entitled to the same government benefits of marriage as every other tax payer.

Goooooooooooooberment pushes it for the marriage penalty. They fall for what the gooooooooooooooooooberment pushes because almost all are part of the 95.8% crowd.

However, I will not ever understand anything about their "needs". They are why 9th floors exist.

I didn't care if gays wanted to be married for all the legal benefits, back before it happened. Said to myself "sure, what could it really hurt?"

Now we've got transgender demon looking things demanding to teach kids. Didn't foresee that slope slipping so fast.

Because it makes them feel special. It validates their existence and their lifestyle.

And they want the “married, filing jointly” tax classification.

What purpose does marriage serve anyone then?

yes

Like abortion it should be left up to the states to decide whether to recognize same sex marriage

Is this a serious question?

No one “needs” to be married. People want to be married. Marriage is a contractual arrangement between two adults who decide to commit to each other. All adults should have the simple right to marry other adults.

Why does it bother you? I've known several married gay couples and they're every bit as boring as the straight married couples I know.

You can always tell the guys who have never made love to another man. It’s funny how that completely changes your view on these things. It’s like trying to ban meat when you’re a vegetarian.

For the same reasons marriages serve infertile heterosexual couples.

What do you think marriage* is if not a simple legal contract.

* Marriage as the state sees it, not how a religious organization sees it.

quote:

That, along with the state discriminating against its own taxpayers, is wrong.

Because gay marriage only requires the state to recognize it. Gender affirmation requires people to recognize it.

A better comparison is gay marriage and trans surgeries. Both can be done, but neither should require your agreement that it's a good or positive thing.

What a stupid fricking question. The answer is the same damn reason straight people do AND before you bring the church into it know that marriage was around centuries before the church got involved.

Why do over 50% of heterosexual marriages end in divorce?
