I actually ventured in to Cane's (First time) last night after a ball game - Packed, but we decided to wait. Service was on the same league as Chick Fil-A. Sauce is pretty damn good. Fries are pretty good but the chicken just seemed really fresh. I don't know how to explain it but the whole experience just seemed a lot cleaner to me. Sure, it's a new shiny building but food-wise, it was on point.
People can bitch about rising prices and shrinking tenders, but we can all agree that Canes service is damn good and interior is generally clean with a good atmosphere for what it is. Todd Graves nailed that aspect out the park.

you’re lucky to even be there to get such delicious chicken in the first place.
This is the barometer for a chicken place.

Is the service good? Then the chicken will be bland AF and need sauce to be edible.

Did the worker look at you like you walking in just ruined their shift? Would you be at this location if it wasn't noon? Did the woman in front of you tell the person putting her chicken in the box to not pull from under the lamp but straight out the grease because she ain't about to be having no stomach problems from that cold chicken? If so then be sure to ask the lady in front of you what sides are good. Go with her suggestion and tell the cashier you'll wait for the hot chicken out the grease too.

Talking about the hood. There's a place called Eric's Grocery near Acadian/north street. Fried wings, fish and chicken tenders there are great for half the price.

The Guthries in Memphis was an absolute ghost town, not sure how they stayed in business

Church’s biscuits and rice dressing beats them all. Spicy chicken just as good as Popeye’s.

Agreed and I may get downvoted but I will eat Texas Roadhouse over Canes. More chicken strips and better fries.

Southern Classic in the Shreveport/Mansfield area will always be the undisputed GOAT fast food fried chicken

The chicken is better. The red beans were better. The service was Canes/CFA like. I wish there was one closer.

You have to mobile app orders, or order combos and use coupons. I can get two meals at a fast food place for $6.50, or I can get two meals for $22. Popeyes was heavy on this kind of activity long before COVID excuses. Whataburger, for instance, is giving me a free double meat patty melt for buying drinks and fries. And a Bogo on a honey butter chicken biscuit.

Some of the Popeyes options are almost stupid cheap (for food you didn't cook yourself), but you're not going to see them on the menu board at the drive thru.

I went to FSU - I think it was the original Gutherie's in Tally -

No, it was in Haleyville or Auburn. His first restaurant was in Haleyville and it was basically a meat and 3 type of place. He parsed the menu down to chicken fingers, slaw, fries, and Texas toast and opened a place in Auburn, on Opelika Road, in what had been a Sonic. So that was the first Guthries as we now know it. I think Athens and tuscaloosa were next. Tallahasse came after that.
