Plenty of opportunity for folks in Louisiana, especially for those that don't work.
Louisiana and Mississippi suffer from the same problem. Half the population don't work and the half that do, 2/3rds work for the government.
It's like California bitching about the homeless when you make laws that attract the homeless. Louisiana expands the Medicaid rolls and makes it easy to mooch off the government and do nothing. Louisiana has a $35 billion budget, nearly the same as Pennsylvania that has 3 times the population as Louisiana.
That's why this state is last. Make it harder on those that don't produce to stay and easier for those that do.

Louisiana has so much to offer. But our politicians are crooked and will always kept it a mess.

Louisiana will always be the place I was born and raised and have a special place in my heart.
It doesn’t hit you until you move away and come back to visit. Once you cross the border it’s depressing as shite. It’s the little things like litter, quality of blue collar workers at fast food and grocery stores, etc.
It’s one of kind place and the people are one of a kind, it has just hasn’t kept up with the times.

I swear every month there is a new ranking and it’s always clickbait.

Yep, Louisiana may be ranked low in almost every economic category, but I would argue, they (especially the South Louisianians) are the friendliest people you will ever meet. Their hospitality, music, and food equal to or better than any place I've every known.

This is what my friends/family don't really get. The ones that moved away stayed away. Everyone else never left. We moved back to be closer to aging family and have a nice quiet spot.
When I tell people I don't like getting out here they look at me crazy. You don't understand until you live in a thriving city for a couple years. There is a certain attitude here with everything you do where the person providing the service is acting like they are doing you a favor.
The post office? "Do as I say, I lord over the packages"
Grocery store? "How dare you ask me a question, read the signs"
Contractor/Labor? "If I find one reason to not work, I'm calling the boss, and getting the OK to leave"
I thought it was me before I left. I really felt crazy, because nobody seemed to understand why I didn't like living here, and I thought if this is happening everywhere I go it has to be me. Until we moved away, and I was able to have a conversation with a person where they don't look me up or down or ask me who my family is.

NOLA, Memphis, Jackson, Birmingham, Atlanta, Little Rock... they are all crime ridden shitholes. 99% of the states that these cities are in are fantastic but these big shitters impact these rankings.
I wish we could pick up these cities and just move them all to Illinois. :haha: They would fit in perfectly with Chicago.

Been living here for 46 years and can confirm......it's a shithole. Hasn't always been, but it definitely is now. I have an exit plan and cannot wait to leave.
