From a defensive mindset, he has the ability to make an offense fire an oc. Superb speed, pursuit, and avoidance of blockers. If he wants to learn middle linebacker, it will be fine. Can’t compare him to Mathieu but they both had stellar years leading by just attacking.

I absolutely agree, but I think he's going to be playing ILB, not MLB. Either way, I think Perkins needs to be studying film every day and every chance he gets. Physically, he's fine, but these days, teams are shifting two and three times and he has to understand what's going on and be able to relay that to other players.

I also think the DL has to improve greatly to help Perkins in his development. Last year's DL couldn't stop my deceased grandmother and that puts even more pressure on the LBs and DBs, who clearly were not up to the task.

I'm hoping Perkins, with better coaching, improved DL play and extensive film study, is going to have an incredible season and become the high first round NFL draft pick we all know he's capable of.

If not, that means we're going to have to rely on Sage Ryan and the other DBs to pick up the slack and we all know that's not a good thing!
