Also, all those people have to live somewhere, causing increased competition for low cost housing, which (a) creates opportunities to increase rent and home prices as people move up and home stocks are low, and (b) also creates unavoidable situations that increase homelessness.

I might grant you the illegals are helping to keep overall wages low even though overall shareholder returns have been pretty high over the last 30 years that probably are more of a problem for the middle class and wage growth.

But, the affordable housing probably is not. As compared to pre 2008, new home building is pretty low thus creating a scarcity of new inventory on the market even when interest rates were significantly lower.
