Billy Joe Shaver

Damn right. Dude was incredible in general.
He probably seemed " too country" to some people, but those people are not smart enough to get him.
His grasp of the adventure and absurdity of life, off the charts. He kept on keeping on till the end.
Seems like he was very accepting of people's faults too and didn't write them off easily, he would keep working at them.
He probably was better at shop math than most engineers and a better carpenter, welder, machinist/mechanic, farmer and philosopher than 99% of those that are famous for those things.
He used that country demeanor to his advantage.
He never got filthy rich, but he was always himself.
What a great thing.
I wish I could have met him.

Walked into the Gold Rush lounge in Huntsville one night and lo and behold there was Billy Joe and Eddie playing to nobody. I shite my pants first then called some friends to come there.
His son was absolutely shredding and we closed it down. Was fantastic!

Billy Joe Shaver was hanging at a restaurant in town with some friends. One of my buddies saw him and texted me and told me that he was there. I met my friend there with my son, who was around 8 years old. I'm not much for introducing myself to celebrities, but I thought it would be cool for my son to meet him. I walked up to him and introduced myself and told him I wanted him to meet my son. He stood up and shook my son's hand and visited with him for a few minutes. He treated my kid like he was the most important person in the world.

He was a helluva songwriter too.
