Actually, on the occasion that I go on an inshore charter, I usually do bring a couple of rods. I pretty much always ask if if it’s OK, and my gear is in good shape and is quality stuff. I mainly do it because most boats only have spinning gear on board and for many applications I prefer baitcasting.
From a guide perspective, is that not cool? I never really thought about it.

I am no guide but I would imagine most wouldn't care as long as you didn't bitch about losing fish and then go write a google review that your captain couldn't put you on fish when in reality it was because you were determined to use your own shite. Only charters I go on are a few days a year with Charlie Thomason for work trips and all my shite stays at the house.
