Yes, they explained it on television. What I have asked several times is what is the reason for such a stupid rule and no one seems to know.

I saw you asked me a couple of times and sorry I didn't answer right away as I was trying to find the answer.
I've been coaching fastpitch since 1987 and nobody has ever given me a rationale for that rule.
I'm guessing if she can go back, she can delay the tag and either one or multiple runs could score or the fielder could throw home and the batter would be safe.
