Best way to get rid of vines

Had an area of our property that was overgrown. Tore it all up and and added some sand. Have to get a get a fence built before I can lay sod.
Over the last couple of weeks we have had a huge amount of weed growth poke through. About 99% of that is vines about 4-6” under the soil.
Aside from digging them up and spraying them, what can really be done to mitigate? The sobs just keep coming back. I’ve sprayed them with Crossbow and it killed what was visible but more came right back.

Do you have pics of said vines? Environmentally safe ways include cutting and pouring vinegar on the area.

Crossbow is 16.5% Triclopyr. Use Remedy Herbicide, it's 60.45% Triclopyr.

Do you want anything to live there? If not 50% diesel/ 50 water will kill anything, it also dosent let anything frow for a while

Vines-Virginia creeper =easy and greenbrier=scorched earth

if it is Virginia creeper it’s easy to pull. It runs across the top of the soil and doesn’t root very deep. Get a hold of a good piece and pull up and away and you’ll get a bunch of it up. Pull again when it re sprouts. One of the very few woody vines that you can manually eradicate

Virginia Creeper and what we always called Possum Grape are two of the main ones here. Well, evil Japanese honeysuckle, too. The two natives, Virginia Creeper and Possum Grape are easy to pull when you get them where you don't want them. The honeysuckle......takes the fires of Hell to eradicate.

Is it bushkiller?
Very hard to kill. Grows and expands via underground runners, 2-3 inches underground. Pull the vine and it just pops off and re-sprouts again from the runners.
Best way I've found to knock it back is to:
-- let it get a couple of feet long,
-- pull it off the bushes or plants but don't pull it out of the ground,
-- roll or bunch it up,
-- lay it back on the ground; if it is on grass or something else put plastic sheeting underneath it
-- spray the heck out of the leaves and vine with Round-Up, and let it sit for several days, enough to get the herbicide into the plant's vascular system and down into the runners,
-- pull the dead vine out and get as much of the runner system out of the ground as you can.

Every house I've bought in N.O. has found me dealing with this damn vine.
I finally got it under control in the house I'm in but when I initially turned the soil for my backyard vegetable garden, it sprouted up everywhere since the house sat for over a year waiting to be sold and the vine got a good foothold in the yard.
Every time I ran my tiller through the garden I'd pick any bits of the runners as I saw them and dug it up as it popped back up when the crops were growing.
It was a long battle for sure and I still have some around the perimeter of the yard since neighbors are not as diligent about keeping it under control.

another vote for Remedy. I bought a gallon of concentrate about 10 yrs ago and may never run out. a little goes a long way. easy on the grass too. so as long as the "weed" is not actually a grass, it's usually take care of it.

This is what it is.
I’m going to spray it heavily when we get a period of dry days and see how it responds. It’s just sand and dirt right now. I don’t have to worry if I kill anything else around it.
Wondering if before i lay sod, I should till the existing materials and pull as much up as I can.

Kudzu is child's play compared to this stuff. My father got his started by some azaleas he bought. shite has spread everywhere. I don't really like using chemicals, but if it ever gets started on my place I'd be willing to dump nuclear waste to get rid of it.
Worst case scenarios would be if a neighbor had it and you couldn't just extinguish it once and for all.

I’ve got it on both sides of my property. Coming from neglect of two different adjacent properties. It just pops up through the grass weekly. I know
I’ll never be rid of it unless I dig up the entire yard. I’ll do that when I put a pool in the ground 5-7 years from now

I’ve been fighting it too. I’ve been brushing it with Triclopyr straight from bottle. I’m not sure I’m making a dent in it at this point. Next round will be round up, triclopyr, 2-4D and diesel, that kills everything.

Deal with lots of vines where I live of many types. I cut them and apply a few drops of pure roundup concentrate to the cut on side still rooted and when done right it kills the vine 100%. I don’t bother staying vine leaves anymore. Doesn’t kill totally.
