I know this clown in the link and the dude from Dragos wanted to make Fat City the next Rodeo Drive. Yeah ok. See how that's working out. Section 8 has done Metry in.

Yep, used the crime from the Sec 8 apartments to basically shutdown all the bars and live music venues in Fat City

Democratic mayor?
.

It really goes beyond the mayor. Cedric Glover was a democrat and everyone loved him. That’s back when movies were being made and LSU won the BCSNC. The Boardwalk was popping every weekend, etc.

However, the last two Dem mayors were pretty much ineffectual. They didn’t really do anything. The DA and the City Council haven’t done anything about the explosion of juvenile crime. When we first moved to Shreveport in 2004, the Anderson Island neighborhood was mostly white and definitely not ghetto. It was starting to get that way 18 years later when we left town. BTW, one of these apt complexes is in that neighborhood.

The Highlands neighborhood was very transitional, now it has completely transitioned the wrong way.

Caddo Schools are bullshite. I swear half the kids I taught were somehow special Ed or learning disabled. They are raising entire generations of kids that are of no use to society. The ones that can leave do leave once they get a degree.

There’s lots of old money in Shreveport, but none of those folks are really doing anything except keeping certain institutions going. Like the opera, symphony, Highland Jazz and Blues Festival, parades, Red River Revel, etc. One of my friends who worked at the tourist bureau said that less than a hundred people are responsible for all the artsy stuff that happens in Shreveport. And they are constantly fighting folks who demand more inclusion for every single thing, but from a population that doesn’t support Jack crap.

All the conservatives have moved to Bossier or south of town. All they do anyway is blame black people and teachers (sounds familiar). The majority of the white population left in town are progressive white guilters who are in la-la land as far as who is at fault and what should be done about Shreveport’s decline. We lived in South Highlands and were surrounded by folks like that. I imagine our old street will be ghetto within 10-20 years.

It also didn’t help that lefties and righties both seemed to hate Shreveport. They were all miserable. When a news article was posted about something new coming to town, it was all bitching and no excitement.

Shreveport is an amalgamation of Louisiana. It was a sinking ship and I’m glad we got off and didn’t sit there and play the violin.

It's the strangest thing- maybe it goes on in other cities, too, but everyone is all 'There's nothing positive happening in Shreveport. Nothing to do, nowhere to go.'

Then something opens like the new piano bar in the Boardwalk, or a new movie studio, and those VERY SAME PEOPLE are all 'Location sucks, Boardwalk sucks, movies suck, that place will be gone in a year' like it's a self fulfilling prophecy. We're only here for our aging parents. We've already told our kids to go away for college. It's our hope that they find jobs elsewhere, then we move to wherever they go. But as long as our parents are still here, so are we.

Perhaps you can find a copy and paste from Reddit from me, Little one ?
Nah.
You cannot.
And you still have no facts to add to this topic, just personal attacks on those who you perceive disagree with you...

Why is it that poor S. Americans and Asians can come here and rebuild entire neighborhoods, start businesses and essentially capitalize on whatever little bit is given them, yet our homegrown layabouts would basically just die within days if the government didn’t spoon feed them with every benefit known to mankind?

Am I supposed to feel sorry for people who ignore the inevitable and then when it hits they have no plan except to have a massive pity party? How are these people and their children benefiting society? It’s just a cycle of mediocrity no one wants to honestly acknowledge.

of course not. it's all extremely common talking points that you and the rest of the OT "Centrists" try to insert into every discussion. the rest of us just roll our eyes. why you bother posting it i'll never understand. low iq and low testosterone is my guess.

Can we agree that out of the major Louisiana cities Shreveport is definitely last.

Not ranking them but Lafayette, Nola, BR, Monroe, Alexandria, Northshore then a big gap and there’s Shreveport.

If these were section 8 housing then they wouldn’t have issues with rent being paid. Section 8 is paid for by the government correct?

I suspect Shreveport will make national headlines for "shutting off water to low-income minorities" and the world will keep turning.

Problem is, those who are actually paying their bills will also get cut off from the water supply.

What about Lake Charles and Houma/Thib?

And all those areas are so drastically different, it's hard to even compare them. They all have good and bad attributes.

How can you compare Alexandria to NOLA?

My kid used to go to daycare at Noel Methodist and I would often take Herndon back to Youree to get out of that neighborhood. It's turned into little Mexico through there now. They are buying those cheap crack houses, putting new roofs on them and renovating them. They have a bunch of them together.

Also, the best fajita beef meat in town is on the corner at La Ranchera Meat Market.

Good for them.

The bad part is if you took Shreveport out of the equation, this part of the state isn’t a bad place to live. The Bossier side of the river is much better. Unfortunately some of the rats from Shreveport are making their way across the river and trying to start shite here.

But a lot of them are finding out that the BCPD don’t play games.
