Do y’all agree with most maintenance calorie calculations that say multiply body weight by 15 for your daily maintenance calories? I’m wanting to make sure I’m in a deficit but that seems like a lot

I think to only truly get a maintenance calorie count would be to know your BMR plus your burnt calories for the day.

A 200lb with a percent body fat of 40 and sedentary lifestyle is going to be much different than a 200lb guy with a 8% body fat that’s a gym rat.

No simply because all calories are not created equal and people have different metabolism.

No. Use the TDEE calculators.
Best way is to take measurements like bodyweight and adjust over time.

no, im not close to times 15 and most non hs atheltes are not either. most adults are around 12.

here is a very good calculator LINK

select leangains calc from drop down

but only way to know if in deficit is weigh yourself and track calories very close. if havent lost in 2 weeks, not in deficit.

Ok I looked at the tdee calculator and that seems more reasonable. It put my maintenance at almost 1000 calories less than the standard x15 method. And good news is even with the new lower maintenance number I’ve been well under that for the last several weeks. Next question do y’all think you can go too far under maintenance level? I’ve been pretty far under maintenance last couple weeks (more than 500 calories). Is there a point where it becomes counterproductive to losing weight?

yes because when you stall you have no where to go. keep it at 500 less than maintenance. up your steps when you stall

Dumb question but even if you stall for bit, wouldn't you eventually start losing again if you stayed strict?

No.

Use one of the calculators online and then adjust based on your results. There’s no way to accurately account for an individuals metabolism and daily calorie burn during exercise/workouts.
