My friends bought one about 8 months ago, great car, they love it!

toyota and Honda drive trains ensure high value years down the road. A Rav4 was an option for me, but it was a hybrid, and not quite there yet personally. Weather still fricks with them.

I'm still driving daily my 2009 Tacoma with 130k miles. Only cost is Oil Changes, Tires recently and a set of brake pads. I'll drive it another 10 years I'm sure.

I had a 2009, when I traded it in, it had 209,000 miles, not one problem. Great trucks!

You can pay more on the front end (price) or backend (finance) but you always gonna pay. 0% means higher sales price 9/10 times.

If they’d throw in a free Transmission or 2 for later I would do that.

In fact it’s probably better than 50% chance the Hondas have an A/C issue that’ll cost 1500 or more within 100k miles.

A $1500 repair bill over a decade+ of use wouldn't deter me from buying a particular vehicle.

I can’t help but think a lot of people are concerned with the new baggage control system they’ve got at Heathrow.

$1,500 A/C costs, a you got 100,000 miles on it? You don't bring it to a dealership. I had one done for $500.

We have a 13 yr old Honda and no issues with the A/C. It's had a new starter and power steering pump. That's all in non-routine maintenance we've done to it. My wife liked that car so much she bought another one when we gave it to our kid.

Friend of the family gave my granddaughter a 2014 volvo xc90 when her husband passed away. Gave it to her.

Told her she has a fancier car than I'll ever have at 16.

Hand-me-downs are the best for HS kids. I know that the car is still in good mechanical condition, but it's got a few dings on it, and if she were to wreck it, it's not the end of the world. Insurance would probably total it for a minor fender bender

Indeed. both of my teen grandkids have decent cars, handed down. My sis gave my older grandson her used Honda CRV.

I have one here for them when they come this summer. Will be nice not to have to play chauffeur this summer for them and their friends.

I own a Honda, me either, but all manufacturers have issues. Oil consumption and A/C issues are pretty common of recent for Honda. Some are worse like Nissan transmissions. Just saying it’s unlikely to have 300k “trouble free miles” on any car. Alternator/starter/suspension parts are other likely culprits. We will see how this Honda holds up, others I’ve owned were better than Nissan but not as good as Toyota.

On top of the high car prices, the interest rates are ridiculous. I have an 800 score my bank offered me a 10% rate.

I can't believe we're still allowed to own private automobiles.

Many cars will give 200,000-300,000 miles, with normal maintenance. Toyota and Honda are two of the most common. My friend had a Volvo, burning oil, what a POS. The dealership said this was normal. A friend bought an Audi the same time I bought a Tacoma truck, in 2019. The Tacoma is worth more. Some things last longer, have a better resale value. I've had 4 Toyota's as of late, $500 had been the biggest expense for A/C compressor. All other, regular maintenance.

Best I had was a 2007 Toyota Matrix. Got great gas mileage. Only issue other than regular maintenance items it had was alternator, I changed it myself and it was easy to get to. It did have minor very common things (wheel covers always come off) but it was a great car. About 250k on it when I got rid of it.
Worst I ever owned was Ford Edge. Infotainment system, turbo both replaced within 40k miles. Was exhibiting symptoms of coolant bypass into cylinders that is known issue with some years. So I traded it before it needed a new engine.
