The plan was to bat him leadoff at beginning of season and he hit inferior pitching well but when SEC play started he fell on his face and was moved to bottom of order.Against 2 of weakest teams in conference Jay moved him back to leadoff. Why who knows? But the results are .170 BA and .291 OBP.

batting average is of no consequence. just worry about OPS. if you walk a lot and hit for power, you are productive. any player with an OBP over 400 should play as much as possible.

a player can exist with a 300 batting average that is destroying the team and ruining their ability to score runs, if they have no power and never walk or HBP.

go watch moneyball again

Now explain how a .170 hitter with a.291 OBP helps a team?

This may be misleading. He may be in the game more with our better pitchers.

Comparisons between pitchers with different catchers was easy to do with all of the back and forth that has occurred. The era differences showed up regardless.

List the players sitting on the bench for him to play that aren't struggling though.

I’m not saying there is a clear better option sitting on the bitch. I’m saying that using his total season OBP to say that he’s been fine is misleading as frick when he’s been atrocious when we played good competition.

I just said OBP is critically important

Not debating the stat but he led off early in the year when LSU started 14-1 against inferior opponents.

You mean, you don't care for any stats that don't support your narrative.

Weren’t you hyping up our offense because they got a bunch of hits against VMI?

I look at SEC games because those are the games that really matter and that is the level of competition you need to be able to play at in order to really be successful. I don’t think playing well against Southern means much if you can’t play well against SEC teams. Just my opinion, you can disagree.

If Kling isn't passive no he is a decent hitter.

Passive Kling is ballsack
Aggressive Kling is good/more than serviceable

He’s not as bad as the BA indicates. He routely works counts deep and gets on base at high clip. I think he is the better option out of Bingham and Brown. Frey can’t play defense rn.

Milazzo catching is plus compared to Neal and Trav. Neal and Trav should rotate DH and situational PH when Big Al is back there. Neal get a start back there once a weekend.

You call Kling getting on base at a .298 rate a high clip? Why would you alternate Neal hitting .132 in SEC play alternating with Travinski at DH....are u serious?

And he’s been more than serviceable as a hitter.

No, no, no, NO! He has been serviceable - not more than serviceable. I like Milazzo. I’d like Neal better if he could catch. But don’t exaggerate Milazzo’s hitting.

Kling is still a shitty hitter no matter how much makeup you try to put on that turd

Do you not understand how important it is for our lineup if his speed is on the bases 40% of the time?

Do you understand he only gets on base 29% of the time when he plays against SEC pitching. Feast on midweek pitching famine against conference pitching.

But that's not what was stated. It was stated by staff, not by pitcher.
