Who you beat matters more than "bad losses". Everyone loses games. But good teams beat other good teams. Average teams only beat bad or other average teams.

To that end, MSU is 10-9 vs. Q1 opponents. LSU is 5-9. And two of those wins literally just came about this weekend.

You are looking at a current snapshot and trying to extrapolate that into a future scenario. The "projections" aren't really a "projection". They are a picture of how things stand right now. With 6 more games remaining against top 25 (RPI) teams LSU could play their way from "on the bubble" to a 2-seed lock. Or they could play their way out of the tournament. MSU could sweep their way through the final 6 games and be a top 8 seed. Or they could struggle and find themselves as a #2 seed.
