Canceling insurance the day you turn in the plate is acceptable. The plate not getting cancelled for weeks afterward, not so much.

I sold my car out of state and this happened. I move back 10 years later and my license was flagged and I potentially owe $600 in fines. Every time I try to call the number to contest this it’s a three hour wait and I give up.
