LSU has 8 listed DTs on the current roster:
Guillory
Lee
Washington
Breaux
McKinley
De'Myrion Johnson
Makene'ole
Paez
So the narrative that they have "no one" is false. They have bodies. Now, if you want to say there are big question marks as to how productive that group will be I think all would agree.
But this isn't the first time LSU has been in this spot. In 2014 LSU started the season in arguably a worse situation. They were left playing Christian Lacatoure and true freshman, Davon Godchaux pretty much all game early in the season. Not surprisingly, things didn't go well early on. Most notably Dak Prescott and Co. running all over LSU. However, as the season went on LSU's defense got better. What started out as a disaster ended with LSU being a top 15 defense.
Now, I'm not saying LSU will ever reach that point this season. Namely because there are other personnel holes on the roster. But the absolute panic by some just because LSU didn't sign an average transfer DT is absurd. Sure it would have been nice to get one of those guys. But I'm pretty confident in saying it wouldn't have been the difference between a championship season and a poor season. It's not like LSU swung and missed on Glenn Dorsey, Aaron Donald or Ndamukong Suh
