My father was a flight safety director for the Army. One night when I was home from Auburn for the summer he took me to a hanger on Ft. Rucker after midnight. I was told to watch the mechanics in the hanger so they didn't leave. He went to the flight line and found two mechanics sleeping in the helicopters.
The incident reports pointed to routine maintenance that wasn't being done. Needless to say, those aircraft mechanics were unemployed after that.
I think Boeing will be on the road to a comeback after this. The corporate leadership that let it slide has their heads on the chopping block.
