The FAA investigates after Boeing says workers in South Carolina falsified 787 inspection records
Who needs pesky inspections on an airplane? I bet people on Alaska Airlines Flight 261 wish that the maintenance had not been skipped. I wonder if any of the responsible parties were DEI hires

The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday it has opened an investigation into Boeing after the beleaguered company reported that workers at a South Carolina plant falsified inspection records on certain 787 planes. Boeing said its engineers have determined that misconduct did not create “an immediate safety of flight issue.”
In an email to Boeing’s South Carolina employees on April 29, Scott Stocker, who leads the 787 program, said a worker observed an “irregularity” in a required test of the wing-to-body join and reported it to his manager.
“After receiving the report, we quickly reviewed the matter and learned that several people had been violating Company policies by not performing a required test, but recording the work as having been completed,” Stocker wrote.
Boeing notified the FAA and is taking “swift and serious corrective action with multiple teammates,” Stocker said.
No planes have been taken out of service, but having to perform the test out of order on planes will slow the delivery of jets still being built at the final assembly plant in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Ah, the age old magic pencil whip. It’s the go-to tool for lazy bastards for centuries.

Scapegoat paper trail. A story as old as time.

Send everything back to Everett. It is tragic what has happened to Boeing the last 10 years.

Never thought I’d see the day where I root hard for Airbus over Boeing. They need a complete reboot but they are essentially the Federal Aerospace Manufacturing Agency so it won’t happen

Boeing needs to get back to having pilots and engineers in charge with marketing, stock brokers, lawyers and business people in a supporting role.
Yeah, DEI has its consequences too.

Immediate as in today or next week?

“The company voluntarily informed us in April that it may not have completed required inspections to confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the fuselage on certain 787 Dreamliner airplanes,” the agency said in a written statement. “The FAA is investigating whether Boeing completed the inspections and whether company employees may have falsified aircraft records.”
Oh, it’s just where the wings attach to the fuselage.
For a minute there I was worried.

They fricking lie. Blame it on the inspectors and technicians instead of their bullshite culture that perpetuates the problem.
I was on an investigation board after Columbia…they blamed the technicians who took the molds off. fricking idiots. Next flight…came off again.

Was this during Mrs Boeing’s time in office?

Boeing has hired Hillary’s security team. If I worked there I’d look for another job stat.

My father was a flight safety director for the Army. One night when I was home from Auburn for the summer he took me to a hanger on Ft. Rucker after midnight. I was told to watch the mechanics in the hanger so they didn't leave. He went to the flight line and found two mechanics sleeping in the helicopters.
The incident reports pointed to routine maintenance that wasn't being done. Needless to say, those aircraft mechanics were unemployed after that.
I think Boeing will be on the road to a comeback after this. The corporate leadership that let it slide has their heads on the chopping block.
