*We're not in the market of buying players and unfortunately right now, that's what some guys are looking for. They want to be bought. *If you're just looking to get paid, you're looking in the wrong direction
*If you just want to get paid, this is not the place for you“

Hell yeah let’s keep it that way BK

In other words, we need more money

I’d rather spend money on elite coaches than maybe a good player for 1 season

I like it. I don’t want to see the CFB I love die because schools just want to win at all costs.

The frustrating part is he almost acts like he was totally caught off guard that these kids were gonna be all about the money.
We can act like this is "part of the path" but I think he had zero anticipation of having the same DL guys after the spring portal as we did in the fall.
Oh well. He better go out there and still find a way to win.

Well then you're going to get left behind and have nothing. What has that approach gotten us at a desperately needed position? Either play the game or get run tf over by those who are willing to.

Not saying his approach is right or wrong but the mentality of these player wont change. Its the new landscape of college athletics. These players wont look at the long game and will only look for the what can you do for me now, money

I loved seeing this. Weed out the "only here for instant money" people.
This is what I tell all the people against it;
LSU
5* Maason Smith 2nd round
3* Jordan Jefferson, 4th round
3* Mekhi Wingo, 6th round (left early)
Bo Davis
4* (just barely. 49th ranked DL) Byron Murphy 1st round
3* T'Vondre Sweat 2nd round
Now for any of these dudes looking at the open spots available, looking at the drafts pick this recent draft, and getting a major one year payday, likely north of 500k, it was 110% about upfront money for them. Miami just turned a 5 star into an UDFA. Miami's DL coach has not had a DT drafted at Oregon or Miami (that's 17-21 and 22-23). Neither of these two schools have had a DL recruit drafted the past 2 classes, and none are projected as a draft pick for this upcoming draft (before Damonic).
If you went to Miami for the big money, scenery and the house they put you in, so be it. If you want to go for the insane money Oklahoma is giving you, so be it.
Davis has molded DL for a long time. Made several 3 star guys into draft picks. We are going to be great going forward.

Unfortunately this is the case, we pay but not anywhere near what the others are paying.
I know for a fact, that the kid from OGHS has been offered 650k for one year. That was Ole Miss, When his brother was committed to Texas A and M the package deal was 1.5 million.
When Petrino and Jimbo were let go, that's when His father pushed for Ole Piss, the dad is good friends with Pete Golding, they played CFB together at Delta St.
Drew still tells me he wants to play for UGA but Ole Miss is probably gonna get him in the end. I was joking with the dad yesterday at our son's practice yesterday, saying how cool it would be for him to be at Lsu and getting to see Drew smash AJ. From what I'm hearing AJ is gonna be the backup over Howard. I will have to wait and see about that.
He/Dad does have a meeting setup to speak with Austin Thomas this weekend.
The Oatis kid from hattiesburg high is a big Lsu fan and Bo dropped in to see him as well, but in the end they will go to probably the highest bidder and that's currently the Tx schools, the rebels, and surprisingly Fla st.
Take all this with a grain of salt, he might be fricking with me, ya never know.

Is Kelly spending his money? If LSU is now all of a sudden not spending then they will get left behind in a cloud of dust.

Lsu is into the buisness of buying players just like every other school make no mistake but... Lsu also isn't going to be the highest bidder for players they feel aren't worth that number.

I guess we’re going to be left behind then and go back to 1990s LSU football pretty soon if we won’t match the NIL deals that other schools are giving.
You get with the program or you get your asses kicked.

My respect for Coach Kelly has just been elevated a few more notches.
