The two groups who could transition the easiest would be NHL players and middle infield/OF types in baseball.

This is a ridiculous take

Rivers is mostly right although there is a huge spectrum. There are a few NBA players that would transition well to football, mostly the shooting guards and Small Forwards. Then there are a lot of the long lanky awkward types that would get absolutely destroyed immediately

None from either league could play or withstand a full season of NHL.

Three hall of fame football players (or ones who will go in once they are eligible) were role player college basketball players, and in one case, a star who never even played football.

There is also a multiple time pro bowler who played football as an afterthought when he knew he wasn’t NBA material.

Really? You think a group of athletes who depend on quick, explosive movement pared with premium hand-eye coordination (middle infielders) would have a tough time transitioning to PG/SG? Or players whose balance and explosiveness who also have ++ hand-eye coordination (hockey players) wouldn't be able to transition? GTFO

From a total number of players standpoint, you can be the 1000th best football player in the world and have a steady NFL job. If you are the 1000th best basketball player, you'll never sniff the NBA. And then add in that there are multiples more kids playing basketball in the world than football as kids.

I would say point guard the position that translates the most... in reality most of the guys over 6'6 in the NBA would be offensive linemen or defensive ends in the NFL... they would have been training their bodies to gain and hold weight since high school.... the obvious football positions that translate or WR/DE
