That’s a guy who could maybe win a dunk contest. Not sure how him dunking proves he could be an NBA player.

There aren't that many, which is where the comparable population to discuss begins. That's the point.

The average height of all nfl players fluctuates between 6’2-6’3 but yeah everyone is at bunch of garden gnomes on the field. If Chris Paul can make it damn near 20 years in the NBA, I’m pretty sure guys like Tyreke Hill, Justin Jefferson (who is 6’2), Jamar Chase, and Stefon Diggs will be just fine.

I like how you arbitrarily make 6’2 the cut off point for NBA players when there have been plenty of successful players that height and under in the league.

Again, who?

What skill position players are 6-2 without shoes, in the NFL?

There are some WRs who fit this bill. Jefferson and Chase come to mind. Maybe Drake London (he played basketball at USC) but he's probably too slow.

WRs and edge rushers are really the only two positions in the NFL with the body types and athleticism that could translate to the NBA. I think someone like Travon Walker has the athletic profile to play in the NBA, for example.

Here's the list of players in the NBA currently that are 6' or under
Chris Paul the grandpa
Mike Conley the grandpa
Kyle Lowry the granpa
Aaron Holiday
Davion Mitchell
Fred VanVleet
Ish Smith
Jordan McLaughlin
Jose Alvarado

9 guys 6' or under.
There's only 18 guys who are 6'1"

of those 27 guys, only 5 of them start in the nba, as the rest are just role players. You know why they are role players? b/c they are too small to be on the court when the game is on the line, execpt for that hall of famer CP3 and the 200lb Lowry and VanVleet. Trae and Conley are only out there for offense and are usually subsituted out on defense.

Think about how many 6' or 6'1 males there are in this country that play basketball that are around the age of 25. It's millions of guys and only 27 of them are in the nba.

Every nfl wide reciever and cb played basketball. They stuck with football b/c they weren't good enough to make it in basketball 99 times out of 100, b/c if they could choose which sport they'd rather make it in, the nfl or the nba, it woudl be the nba 99 times out of 100 with their enormous guaranteed contracts and longer shelf life.

Chad Ochocinco's career earnings were just under $50M. 3x all-pro and 6 time pro bowler.
Take any all-star from the nba from 2001 and they made a lot more than that.
Eddy Curry made $70M and no one even remembers him.
Little 6'3" 195lb Jamaal Tinsley made $56M.
Neither of those guys were anywhere near as good as Chad Johnson in their respective sports.

And TEs, Safeties, Corners, some OTs, and the occasional QB, but yeah that’s all.

Is it though? The level of skill needed for an NBA player is so incredibly high.

NFL players could play in an NBA game and score points, but there’s no chance any of them could make a team.

Ok… name me 5 players from the nba that could make it through training camp and then be picked to a roster… the physical toll on them would be terrible. I doubt any of the 5 would make it past 10 days… it’s a totally different animal….

the most important thing in the NBA is height.

it’s a major factor. the skill level needed to compensate for that is large.

So I wonder how many of these guys are also NFL fast or are you just finding 30 jump ball redzone options?

On the NFL side, speed strength and athleticism can take you unbelievably far, but we have no idea who has a jump shop anywhere near the level you need.

NBA and mlb are similar because of the contact part. NBA players are better athletes than mlb imo.

He's not wrong.
Concerning pure athleticism he has a point for maybe a small handful of positions(wide receiver, tight end, etc.), but he has no idea how violent the NFL is.

NBA players are the best athletes on the planet. But it's a different skill set to do what they do as opposed to NFL players. Different muscle groups, etc.

No they aren’t. They have freak measurable physical traits.

Saquon Barkley ran a sub 4.4 at 220 lbs and has more lateral agility than any single player in the NBA. He can also squat over 600 lbs. can any single player do that in the NBA? And he’s prlly not even in the top 5 of freak athletes at his position in the NBA. Safeties and corners start and stop ability, lateral movement, vertical jump (relative to height is likely on par with NBA guys, NBA guys are just taller), top end speed, ball skills while running full speed, and then have to step up and tackle someone like Saquon Barkley coming at them full speed.

NBA guys don’t even know how to throw a fricking baseball.

MLB caliber middle infielders and centerfielders are better overall athletes than NBA guys.

Agree and don’t. There’s secondary and wide receivers that’s speed and length could own a wing and play the post. There’s also a handful of running backs that could run point with ease. Tight end is known to be a key sf.

But basketball players should be able to understand a play call for 11 people.

That's all it is. He's saying he can find 30 NBA bodies that can line up at tight end and run short and intermediate routes effectively due to their height. And I believe there's some truth to that.

Aside from that, an NBA player doesn't translate anywhere else on a football field. And the notion that NFL players could play in the NBA is even crazier; they simply lack the skill level.

I don't even think an NBA player would be effective as a WR as they'd be matched up against pure cover guys that can blanket them.
