I think damn near everyone outside of QBs would choose NBA over NFL because of the money, the relative lack of wear and tear, and overall job security.
There’s a reason why Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham became NFL players when they did, after they learned the NBA wasn’t in their future. Julius Peopers on the other side of the ball. Rico Gathers is a less successful case but was still drafted.
In terms of gifted dual sport athletes, there are lots of other guys who quit college basketball fairly early on and focused on football (Antwan Randle El, Marcus Spears, Donovan McNabb).
Charlie Ward is the rare guy in the other direction, and it’s because he wasn’t viewed as an NFL QB.
