I have a 4' fence with 2" x 4" openings and they went straight through them. So I put a 3' chicken wire fence with a foot of it folded over at the ground. The squirrels were going under it then. So I put a layer of bricks on top of the folder over chicken fence. This kept them out, but the chipmunks are still getting in there.
