Coming in for a game. First time in BR. Planning on doing airbnb or VRBO Looks like there are places downtown, garden district, midtown, a few towards the river near campus and some a little south near highlands. Only there Friday and Saturday. Probably gong to go to a fancy dinner Friday. Looking more for nice places with chill bars and great food (any food recs much appreciated). Thanks!

Baseball or football? How old are you? You coming with buddies or bringing the family? Not to pry, but all pertinent to really answer your questions. Your recs will be different if you're a mid-20s guy coming down for a guys' trip or 40s and bringing the wife and kids. Either way, hope you have a great time.

These questions get asked 9-10x a year. Need to just have some threads pinned for visitors

Give Stanka a call. He can find anything you need to have a weekend to remember!

There are no secret places to stay. Use your Marriott points or let google guide you. As for food, save fancy for another time. Enjoy some local spots like the Chimes or Sammy's or Superior or Roux 61. Plenty of good spots.

Stay at the Watermark. Do dinner at Cocha.

Where are you coming from? If outside of Louisiana then forget the fancy stuff and go get you some crawfish.

Not knowing your age.
See if you can get a VRBO or Air BNB near the campus Lakes.
Bars: Ivars, ZZ’s, The Bulldog, Duvics
Chill Restaurants: Chimes, Phil’s Oyster Bar, Walk On’s near campus, Superior on Highland for a margarita (happy hour is great, food is meh)
Fancy: Mansurs, French Market Bistro
Could also do Digulio Brothers for some Italian/wine then hit up some of the bars mentioned.
Sunday Morning Brunch: Louie’s or Parrains
Lots of this can change depending on how old, who you are bringing, etc.

Get a hotel. Seriously. Anyone who stays at Cook Hotel or downtown Hilton always has a great trip. VRBO not worth the hassle.

Stay at the 440 on 3rd Street (2BR Apartment) but book early only a couple of rooms. Eat and drink at Cocha or Cecelia (bring $$$). Get a latte and breakfast or drinks at The Vintage. Plenty of other places to eat and drink.

After taxes and fees, some of the Airbnbs add up to more than a hotel room. Check out the Watermark King Suite and see what you think. It's on Third Street where all the bars and most restaurants are at.

Stay downtown and take a shuttle to campus.
