A good rule of thumb for when to grip about refs after your team got beat

If your:
basketball team loses by more than 10 points
football team loses by more than a TD
baseball team loses by more than 3 runs
hockey team loses by more than 2 goals
soccer team loses and does not tie
DO NOT BITCH ABOUT REFS. PERIOD.
ETA: Corndoggers, disregard this ROT. It is not for you, you will bitch about refs forever. Carry on.

The exception to this is a rout of a contest where one of your top players got ejected early due to a questionable call.
If Aaron Judge gets tossed early in the game, the Yankees’ offense will be seriously impacted.
What I am thinking of like this is Roger Clemens getting tossed early in the final game of the ALCS in 1990, but he brought that one on by cursing out the umpire under his breath. Turns out they could read his lips.

How about when I don’t care if the Pacers or Knicks win but I enjoy nba playoffs and the refs were terrible.

Don’t forget these:
When it’s blatantly obvious to anyone with half a brain that the refs were horrible
When one team has an egregious number more penalties called vs the other

Pacers lost by 4
Bengals lost by 3
Reds? Meh.
I don't really have a favorite hockey team, but I like NHL
Cincinnati FC hasn't gotten screwed yet
Aaron Judge gets hosed non-stop
Fakers get refs non-stop
LSU fans whine as much as anyone

What if the final TD is what won the game for the other team?
Ur dumb

What if the bad call led to a grand slam?
Ur dumb

In the early 1900s the Giants had a deaf-mute pitcher who got mad at the umpire. He walked up to him and slowly mouthed his words so the ump could read his lips. He got ejected.

That is way too simple minded.
Officiating can absolutely affect a game to swing all sorts of ways. One bad call in football could cause a team to lose a score while also setting up a score for the opposing team. Basically like a 14 point swing.
Basketball is heavily influenced by officiating. They could get one team in foul trouble and really affect depth.
I’ll give you baseball somewhat. Even with inconsistent calls the batter can still attempt to hit the ball. And 3 runs is a lot in baseball. Baseball isn’t really affected like the other sports. Of course one team getting squeezed while pitching could influence the outcome, but there are multiple ways to get outs. It isn’t quite the same as refs in football extended drives due to bogus penalties. Umps can be inconsistent, but it is usually both ways. Imagine if they go to automated strike zones then there won’t be much to bitch about. I very much support this. It would save a lot of frustration and potential anger over inconsistent calls.

Bamtard lecturing us on officiating lolololol.

Also, basketball is much more dependent upon individual players. Only a starting 5. So again lopsided foul trouble could really crush a team. And refs absolutely can influence or affect this. Baseball is such a team sport and it’s unlikely umps are ejecting people, but even if they did it isn’t nearly the same type of impact.

I'm told "rule of thumb" is sexist

A good “rule of thumb” is when you say “rule of thumb” maybe you should just STFU.

Good.
So, we can put to bed Patrick Peterson's "interception" against Alabama in 2009, since Bama won that game 24-15.

I should have know better than to post a stop bitching about refs on a corndog board.
