Welding is very technical…he should do it during school. Just don’t study something like mechanical engineering thinking it’ll be ‘hands on’. Those are the kids that hate it.

Welding school, HVAC school or diesel mechanic school. Those are solid options as alternatives for kids that can handle hard work. However it’s still preferred to go ahead and just get a bachelors in business at the very least.

do you understand how few of people are able to do this?

1) for trades like electrician, plumbing, AC etc...you have to get master license first...which takes 4-6 years minimal plus pass the test

2) then you have to have the capital to even go out on your own. on top of getting licensed by the state etc

its not like you just wake up one day and suddenly can go out on your own,. and in the mean time working your dick in the dirt for $20-$30 an hour. since when did making 40-0k become fantastic money especially when you are working your arse of in the heat and cold and rain etc?

like i said...yall are ignorant as frick. go ask any trades man working in the plant if thye would prefer to be in management and sit in the AC all day. GO ask any management if they would like to go back on their tools and go back to working in the heat.....lmk the answers you get.


many of yall need to go to salary.com and look at the what these trades actually make instead of seeing the top 0.1% who are business owners and thinking that is how everyone in the trades is doing.

They go in happy to work all the OT when they are young, love seeing them dollar signs. Unless they make supervisor later on eventually you're older and getting up every day with back, knee, and/or shoulder pain, and you got used to the lifestyle you had on those OT checks so you're missing your kids lives to MAYBE make slightly more than you could have as a mid to senior level white collar employee at that point.

It is highly unlikely that a person will ever obtain a college degree if they don’t do it by 25. That doesn’t mean people don’t do that, but it’s statistically unlikely. You can become a plumber and have a college degree, you will never become the COO or CEO of a major company without one. Don’t limit your child’s future 20-30 years from now by discouraging college. Go get that paper when you are young and don’t have all the adult responsibilities that come on so quickly.

Unfortunately I have a group of friends that are so very prideful that they might never admit this. On the other hand I have seen many men admit this once they were in their mid 40s'.

Thankfully my HOA has banned residents from attending college.

Listen I gotta say the level of stupidity my 17 year old has shown me the past month I told her mom she will be back by January. She could use a gap year also but would just screw around more. I had to talk her down from not taking an exam yesterday because she said it does not really matter. She wanted to go tanning at the beach instead. I said hell no you will lose your 4Runner and will be going to community college if that occurs. I have been lit lately.
