Loved both my parents and miss my dad (died at 97 y.o., still sharp). Mom is 100 and her memory loops a bit, but otherwise good. They were great parents, us three kids all turned out fine and are also quite close.

I see dysfunctional families all around and know we were blessed with great parents and a little lucky as well.

Absolutely. My mom has zero accountability for her actions and my dad enables it.

Just because it’s family doesn’t mean they are good people.

You have to make decisions for what’s best for you and your family, and I made mine. It sucks but your mental health and happiness matters > toxic family.

World is hard enough already!

Same here. It’s often overlooked, but having a close, loving family is a huge blessing that not everybody gets. It’s something to cherish if you have it.
