Had the thing for about 7 years. That’s a good run for a grill if you ask me

I don’t grill too often so my next grill, I’m thinking charcoal.

Less shite to break and usually cheaper. I don’t usually smoke stuff like brisket but I will cook ribs.

What’s the OB recommended best value charcoal grill?

Price isn’t a dealbreaker either. I just want good, sturdy value.

The Weber kettle is an icon for a reason. Easy to use, cheap and makes great food.

I have an OG Weber kettle that’s probably 25 years old still going strong. If you want an offset, the best thing going for the money is the chargriller offset at the depot. You have to keep it covered but I got 15 years out of the first one and I’m 5 years in on the replacement. It cooks shockingly well

Find a bucees.

Bring a trailer.

Buy one of their pits.

Haul home.

Get the big one.

For the offset smoker go down to academy and buy a replacement burner for $13. The one with all the holes. Get a 1/4 thick plate 12"x12" from lowes or stines. Stub out the side with a pipe nipple to the burner and put a quick connect to a propane bottle. Put Plate on top of the grill grates with the burner under it. Throw wet chunks of wood on top. Make a big nice hotplate smoke controllable by propane bottle.

Enjoy

I couldn't have said it better myself. This grill has infinite accessories you can add to it as well.

For ribs and chicken, you can't beat a Pit Barrel Cooker. I love mine. Weber Kettle is a solid choice as well.

That grill is a machine and can cook anything. Not to mention, it's beyond easy to get accessories or replacement parts, although I've never had to replace anything.

What's your budget? Do you want another 7 year grill or do you want a lifetime. One thing about steel pits, you have to remove the ashes after it cools down,,,,,I find that stuff eats metal if left for long periods.

For charcoal, if you are just doing basic grilling and not a lot of smoking, the Weber Kettle is the undisputed champ. It can do a lot of things. If you go that route get either the 22" or 26" model.

Depending on your budget, and wanting to stick with Charcoal but want to smoke occasionally without a lot of effort, Kamado Joe probably has the best options in the Kamado space at the moment. You can either spring for one of their classic models or if money is tight, they offer the Kettle Joe now which is like a combination of a Kettle cooker with Kamado performance.

Now if you are interested in smoking a lot and want something to give you authentic smoked flavor, the Old Country Smokers G2 may be the best bang for your buck as home stick burners go.

I have a Kamado and a Pellet. The Pellet only gets used for overnight cooks and large gatherings.

I have a Primo ceramic grill.
I bought it a month after we bought our house.

We bought the house Feb 2009.

Still going strong. I had to replace the thermometer earlier this year. That’s about it.

I have a Masterbuilt gravity series. Charcoal flavor with the convenience of a pellet. Not as simple as a regular charcoal grill and has stuff that can break, but I can set a temp and forget it. Holds temps very consistently, and I can monitor it and change temps via the app. Add wood chips for more smoke, if needed.

My wife and I bought our 1st 22" Weber Kettle in 1981. It lasted till 2011 and we replaced it with another Weber Kettle. This one will not last the 30 years like our 1st one but cooks the same. You will have to replace the grates over the years but anything cooked on it is perfect! Ribs, steaks, burgers, chicken, pork chops, it does not matter.

These are nice, but they have nonexistent customer service. They have an 800 number with a recording saying to send an email and they will get back to you in 3-5 days. It’s been over a year and I’m still waiting. My control panel went out in 6 months

Bought a Big Green Egg for my first Father’s Day 22 years ago. Built a table out of treated lumber and it stays outside 300 yards off the saltwater gulf.
Still use it. Been through Katrina where it was found turned over 150 yards from the house. Yes I’ve replaced every internal piece under warranty over the years. Five-ish years ago I bought myself a Flame Boss temp controller and it’s amazing.
Just a consideration.
