Crime is same as most major cities. It is very cosmopolitan with all sorts of amazing ethnic foods. Cost of living is also pretty good given it is a major city. Lots of job opportunities

Hermann park is lovely as is Discovery Green. There are many food options here for all budgets and easily accessible. There are lot of sporting and cultural activities such as the annual rodeo etc.

Compelling case by roadsnacks.net on how terrible Houston is.

I live in a suberb of Memphis and definitely not worst places to live. I'm not sure south Louisiana understands how bad your roads and infrastructure is, first hand experience the worst business development, neighborhood zoning, overall cluster everything between BR and NO is..even nice areas are a disaster.

Based on this post, your suburban Memphis public education might be as bad as Louisiana's highways.

Cleveland could take a meteor strike through its a-hole and it still wouldn’t come close to being the shithole that Baton Rouge is.

Sure, Cleveland isn’t a booming city, but its overall crime rates have been steadily decreasing for the past several years, and it has arguably one of the best healthcare hospitals in the world along with a top-tier research university. To rank Shreveport and Baton Rouge above Cleveland is retarded.

Detroit, Clevealand, then everything else is a very, very distant third. The only redeeming feature of Detroit is the UP, which is like 4+ hours away. You move out the the 'burbs in Memphis, or Bham, or even further out into the country, and it is beautiful, and people are nice. Move 1 hour South of DTW, and it just smells worse. 1 hour north, and SURPRISE, Flint is worse. I could go on all day.....

You are one of those douchebags that overrates Texas, even if I agree with you that LA sucks. Texas is mostly a piece of shite piece of land with a decent government.

Birmingham? No. Even if you limit it to the city limits, it is way better than a lot of other places.

Nah, I don’t. As a matter of fact, I think Texas is an overrated state. Besides job opportunities, there aren’t many amenities that come with living in Texas. There’s no scenery here, the weather is absolute dogshit in the summer, the property taxes are high, we’re getting overrun with illegals, and our beaches are trash unless you go all the way to SPI.

In this state people go to work, come home, go to bed, and the cycle repeats. I’m sure as hell not retiring in this state, and I don’t know why anyone would want to.

Bham proper is as black as Nola or BR. Ghetto city but way nicer suburbs than anything in LA.
