MIT and Stanford, like most universities now, are liberal safe havens and are now considered a joke.
I wouldn't give much thought to someone with a non-STEM degree from these places (not that MIT has many if any, AFAIK), other than assuming they're extremely intelligent or bonkers rich, if not both. They're likely well-read with bad ideas, by my estimation.
But someone with a STEM degree? That's to be considered very seriously. There was likely exposure to rightthink in some classes, but the meat and potatoes of their studies should be among the best in the world.

LSU has named Baton Rouge native Vicki Colvin
Someone on TD has to know her.

I miss the days when Murray Hawkins oversaw the department of petroleum engineering.
Buddy Hawkins was a great man. I had the privilege of being his neighbor for 20 years.

Cal Berkeley alum. That bitch is gonna be super liberal.
I have an ex GF that was a Cal Berkeley graduate and she was conservative in every way except she was pro choice.

You can still get some pretty liberal and unprogressive policies that come out of STEM. Even when I was in college 8 years ago. The college of engineering promoted scholarships specifically for either women or minorities to the exclusion of white males.
They held workshops titled “Breaking the glass ceiling: negotiating higher salaries as a woman”.

Engineering is engineering. It is neither conservative nor woke
If I mess up the placement of a decimal people could die. I'll stick with being at least a little conservative.

Researchers from the Institute for Biology, Engineering and Medicine at Brown University will lead a collaboration involving colleagues from Brown, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University and Yale University to design and implement strategies to increase the number of faculty from groups historically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

With grants totaling $3.3 million from the National Science Foundation, the institutions will identify approaches to bolster diversity, equity and inclusion in academic programs that educate future STEM professionals by addressing hiring practices, with a specific focus on biomedical engineering.
“Strengthening research, discovery and innovation in STEM and addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges requires inviting, welcoming and investing in scholars who bring diverse perspectives, experiences and backgrounds,” said Vicki Colvin, a Brown professor of engineering and chemistry who directs the Institute for Biology, Engineering and Medicine (I-BEAM) and is the lead investigator on the grant.
“To make strides in this area demands addressing systemic obstacles in hiring and workplace practices, and being deliberate about cultivating inclusive communities that promote exploration and collaboration. This grant will help us recognize and create effective approaches that can benefit the entire sector.”

They’re all the same at this point.

That said, the worst professor I had at LSU was an MIT grad.
Yep. It seemed to me that way also. What’s that saying, “those academicians seem to be educated far above their level of intelligence”.

A joke? I don’t think so. Yall really gotta stop letting 18-22 year olds views dictate your opinion. You build your entire personality around politics. It’s not even that serious.
Stanford and MIT are the same as they’ve always been. Elite institutions that anyone would be honored to attend.
